Gadget lovers are delighted to be informed of the launch of Apple’s iPhone 7 while some are still getting to figure out what’s so special in the latest version. Here is a summary of the new features in the model.
1. Goodbye, headphone jack
This has invited a fair share of debate and even some trolls on social media. There will be no headphone jack and users would’ve to use Lightning EarPods that connect through the charging port. The move is to make iPhones thinner, simpler, and more reliable. This will be good for those who feel uncomfortable carrying their mobiles in pockets.
Users can use additional adapters to continue using their headphones but will not be able to use them while charging as both require the same port.
2. Increased battery life
The life of iPhone 7 lasts up to 14 hours when using WiFi and 12 hours on 4G. On comparison, this is 2 hours longer than the average time of iPhone 6s and one hour longer than iPhone 6 Plus. The iPhone 7 Plus can survive up to 15 hours without charging.
3. Improved camera
Something for the photogenic people and those who’re interested in capturing the moments. The f/1.8 lens lets in 50 per cent more light onto the lens, a new 12MP sensor that’s 30 percent more energy efficient. It’s 4K video recording feature also allows live video editing and also comes with two additional LEDs to improve photos on low-light. The front camera is also upgraded to 7MP from 5 MP.
The iPhone 7 Plus will have two 12 MP cameras that are going to make this one of the best devices to capture photographs. Amond the two one is a wide angle lens and the other is a telephoto lens that can zoom 2X in high quality.
4. New colors
The iPhone 7 models are available in 5 different colors with two new additional colors. A matte “black” and a glossy black will join silver, gold and rose gold. Users opting for 128GB and 256GB models will have the option to go for “jet black”.
5. Lower cost
While this isn’t a feature, a reduced cost with improved specifications is a good business move to attract new customers to buy iPhone 7. Indian customers will have to pay ₹60,000 to get their hands of the new model which is fairly lower when compared to the iPhone 6s version whose basic model (16GB) opened in excess of the amount mentioned. But the amount is still 35% more than the price in the United States of America for the change in economy and taxes.
There will also be no 16 GB and 64 GB versions – only 32GB, 128GB and 256GB devices.
