Former England international and Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard has described his countryman and Los Angeles Galaxy teammate Ashley Cole as the “best left back” in the world.
The 36-year-old Gerrard whose contract has run it’s course out at the MLS Club is contemplating retirement once and for all with an eye on coaching Liverpool, as per reports.
In what could be Gerrard’s last game as a player, Ashley Cole and two other teammates missed their spot kicks in the shootout against Colorado Rapids days ago. The player who was with Cole late into the early hours of Thursday posted a picture with him on his Instagram profile, reading: Best left back on the 🌎 #trustme”
Meanwhile, Gerrard could still end up at LA Galaxy with manager Bruce Arena wanting him to re-join the squad for the next season.
‘We were honoured to have Stevie here as well as Robbie (Keane) and are hopeful they continue to be part of our club,’ Arena said.
