There is no shortage of transfer rumors in football and one of those talks link Germany’s Mesut Ozil back to Spanish giants Real Madrid. The 28-year-old is close to signing a 2-year contract extension at Arsenal and there’s reportedly glimmer of a chance of him going back to La Liga.
Lucas Perez, Gunners forward and teammate of Ozil, echoed manager Arsene Wenger’s point that the 2014 FIFA World Cup winner is happy at Arsenal.
“No, I don’t think Ozil wants to return to Spain. You never know. Real Madrid is a big club – but so is Arsenal,” Perez said.
When asked about Ozil, Wenger, also in the final year of his contract, said: “We are always in touch and that’s our desire.
“Mesut Ozil is 28 years old. He is in the prime of his career. We want him to contribute to the success of the club in the future.
“They want to be happy. They are happy at the club and I want them to commit to the club because I believe they are in the right place.”
The player is reportedly asking for £250,000 a week pay and the club is ready to offer him the amount.
